CV

I've been writing on Fashion and Beauty for two years, and prior to this my career was focused on communications, marketing and PR.

I started out at Marie Claire and worked with a range of titles including Prima and Woman & Home.

This was followed by a move into PR and working with Original Source, Imperial Leather, Carex and Purely Skincare.

I led successful PR campaigns and developed and implemented general and specific marketing strategy both under my own initiative, and as part of a team.

I consistently received praise for both written and verbal communications skills and my ability to build exemplary professional relationships across different levels and fields.

A life change brought me family and a move to Oxford, where I am now based.

Alumni Communications Editor

Pembroke College

2010 - 2018

Managing all aspects of alumni communications from magazines and College reports to e-news and social media.

Marketing & Communications Director
Purely Skincare, The Truthful Company

2008-2009

Developing and implementing marketing strategy including full and sole responsibility for all press communications, print and web content

I was really proud to achieve diverse press coverage for this small, start-up brand; over 50 press features, ranging from Elle and Grazia to Attitude and Amateur Gardening.

Media Communications Manager
Original Source, Carex, Imperial Leather
PZ Cussons UK Ltd

2002-2005

I was responsible for bringing PR in-house for Imperial Leather, Original Source and Carex, and achieved over £1m of publicity in a wide range of titles including all the glossies, women’s weeklies, celebrity weeklies, men’s magazines, special interest magazines, national and regional press - all on zero spend. In addition to this, I negotiated offers and created many promotional opportunities for Cussons brands, including initiating celebrity endorsements.  As part of my role, I was a key member of the Brand Strategy Team.

Marketing Manager
Original Source,  Health & Beauty Solutions

1999 - 2002

I had a great time, and learnt a lot working with this start-up brand. In our team of five I was responsible for generating all PR for the Original Source brand, (and for a company which didn't advertise, this was critical to the brand's success).  This was largely due to building and maintaining excellent relationships within the press and other media, devising additional marketing opportunities to drive traffic to the website and increase sales, achieving high levels of free celebrity endorsement for the brand, all of which helped generate genuinely interesting news stories.  My background in magazines certainly helped!

Marketing and Promotions Manager
Southbank monthly women's titles,
IPC Media (now Time Inc.)

1994-1999

I started my career on the front desk at Marie Claire, rising through the ranks to Marketing & Promotions - first on Marie Claire and then on the, sadly now defunct, Options and Woman's Journal.
